WU Development Strategies Literature Review
Description
To prepare:
Having identified how long each part of the dissertation takes on average, you will see that the literature review often takes as much time as the rest of the dissertation.
Listen to the Walden Writing Center webinar on literature reviews and annotated bibliographies found in the Learning Resources section of this module.
The first stage of your dissertation journey will be developing a literature review on your topic. This means it is essential that you stay abreast of current research in your area of interest.
Reflect on the specific insights and strategies that you gained about conducting a literature review, its detail and intricacy, and the distinctions between it and an annotated bibliography of the literature. These include concept maps to identify all relevant topics to research and keyword lists compiled from articles reviewed during your literature search. They also include annotated bibliographies to retain all relevant details about the articles to use in later analyses, and outlines to identify both what to include in literature reviews and to identify what is not known about the topic being reviewed.
Reflect on the purpose of a literature review and how you will begin the process of creating a literature review.
Post the following:
Identify three strategies that you could use to maximize your use of time in developing a literature review. Consider organizational resources, types of schedules, networking, creating an ongoing database of reading resources on topics you want to explore, and other resources that might prove helpful.
Explain how these strategies will keep you focused so the literature review will be strong and comprehensive, yet manageable
