Wilmington University Ethics & Social Responsibility Discussion
Question Description
I’m working on a philosophy question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
In Chapter 1, the text authors write: “Obviously, the law itself id the major means by which a society imposes standards and expectations upon business. But…obeying the law is not enough to fulfill ethical responsibilities.”
Why might legal rules be insufficient for fulfilling one’s ethical responsibilities?
Cite (with a link, if available) an example of when a businessperson or organization has done something that is legally permissible but in your opinion, unethical.
- Cite (with link) an example of the opposite: a situation in which a business or businessperson did something illegal but ethically the right thing to do.
