As advanced practice nurses, we can always turn to evidence-based research to assist us while
treating patients. As we apply evidence-based practice to the decisions we make in clinic, we can be
assured that we are offering the best care we know of.
Evidence based care comes because of evidence-based research. It is up to us, as providers to
keep updated on the new research and results found.
As we use and apply evidenced based research into our practice, our patients can feel assured
that they are receiving the most up to date care available. We can also inform our patients of resources
that we use to obtain the information we get from evidence-based research. (e evidence-based
research approach suggests that, in addition to these factors, a systematic and transparent approach
should be followed to explicitly use all earlier studies and to consider end user perspectives. Thus, the
evidence-based research approach acknowledges the importance of researchers/wn context and a
plausible explanation for how the interventions might work, if this is not obvious when a new study is
planned but emphasizes that a systematic synthesis of earlier similar studies and a similar synthesis of
end users0erspectives must be added to avoid irrelevant and redundant studies(Robinson, et al.,
2021).
Although evidence-based research can end with great results, those results can change with
time. Along with evidence-based research results, we also must be aware of the risks and
contraindications that come along with the new research. This is also something that we must advise
our patients on.
