Hello Class,
This post will be discussing if the Religion of Christianity stands or falls based on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christianity as a whole is based on there being one God and his son coming to earth to atone for the sins of the world. According to Taylor èristianity describes the range of beliefs, rituals, and communities whose adherents understand themselves to be following the moral example of the historical figure of Jesus of Nazareth and/or assert his divinity.(1). This means that the Christian faith is imperative on Jesus being the true messiah and son of God. Thus, the question of the church still existing if historically Jesus was not resurrected must be answered. Jesus2esurrection is one of the primary factors needed for Christianity as a religion. Jesus was supposed to be the atonement for all sins through him living a perfect life and then being sacrificed. The sacrifice in itself could not be enough, because without a resurrection he could easily be considered just a man. The religion believes that )s death and resurrection simultaneously held promise of individual salvation from death as well.(Wilson 25). Thus, the resurrection is a key facet of the religion. The belief in his resurrection is what caused his apostles to go forth and begin preaching Jesus4eachings. The religion itself assumes that Jesus was resurrected, but if he was not it brings Christianityàbeliefs into question. If Jesus was not resurrected then many followers of Christianity might not believe that he was their messiah. If Jesus is not involved in Christianity then there is little difference between their faith and the practice of Judaism. They both believe in the premise of the same God, but Judaism does not believe in Jesus being Godàson. Thus, there would be no need for Christianity because it would so parallel with Judaism. It also eliminates the belief in the redemption brought through Jesus2esurrection which is the primary basis of the religion. If the resurrection was proven to never have happened it would void the validity of any book of the bible that was not part of the original Jewish Tora. Without the foundation of Jesus2esurrection, the church would fall and cease to exist.
