EA (nterprise Architecture`perspective, cloud computing can be
described as a paradigm that helps in the decentralization process of
data centers through the virtualization of infrastructure platforms as
well as enabling services via the internet. Therefore, it issues
admittance for the various platforms, tools, and services from the
different browsers spread across several terminals. Additionally, it
lessens the maintenance and management of the various resources
linked to technology and infrastructure while offering platform tools’
portability, scalability, and serviceability.

cloud from an enterprise architecture perspective. Therefore, beginning
with the benefits, there is cost reduction for different services, for
instance, storage software and bandwidth functionalities that are
usually outsourced to respective data centers.Another benefit is that
reliability and scalability to the cloud are considerably increased with
the advantages including backups, fault tolerance, and reduced
latency (Saint-Marc, 2014). On the other hand, the
challenges involved may include security issues such as pplication
security beyond authorization,!n area where the respective
developers require help
and support. Client-side security is also a challenge.

Cloud computing is regarded as a key business model in information
technology, with organizations experiencing pressure to align with this
model to respond to the changing technological environment. Thus,
enterprise architecture plays a key role in dealing with this challenge.
Based on cloud services as well as deployment models, organizations
can easily upgrade their information technology provisions (Sajjan et al.,

My definition of the “Cloud” from an EA perspective is a computing
service that includes servers, data, storage, network, and software over
the internet. It is the software system that stores all the data and is able
to back up the system. It enables storing data and files on the internet
through a cloud computing provider that is able to access public and
private networks.
What benefits/challenges are associated with looking at the cloud from
an EA perspective?
Answer – There are many advantages and few disadvantages of using
cloud services such as:

o No more external hard drives
o Remotely update & sync your files
o Share file easily
o Remote work made easy
o Keep your files encrypted
o Storage for a lifetime
Cons:
o Need an internet connection
o Extra storage space comes at a cost
o Security & Privacy concerns with some providers

‰t is important to keep your data backed up to the cloud to make sure it
is safe and easily accessible. The good thing about the cloud is that you
do not need a physical hard drive anymore and be able to share files
easily. The only few disadvantages of using the cloud are that users
need internet and it costs some budget to expand the storage.

The cloud is a very beneficial tool for an Enterprise Architect. As a brief description, it is a
storage tool the stores and processess data off-site from your facility. It is capable of doing
anything from just storing back-ups of your data to running all processing power and operating
systems for your facility. The cloud offers a lot of flexibility, allowing your organization to
choose exactly the amount of integration you want based on the needs of the company.
As far as benefits- it’s a cost effective way to store and process information. Instead of hiring an
entire IT staff and purchasing additional servers for storage, the data can be kept offsite with a
different team running the IT, your organization just needs to access their hardware. It is also
great for continuity planning, making sure that your data is backed up offsite is vital in the event
of a natural disaster. Challenges – One of the major challenges I see is that your data is now
owned by someone else. This other company may never access it, but they could if they wanted
to. Additionally, while some functionality can be maintained if the internet goes out, such an
event can cause a major disruption to your workflow.
