Usability Blooper Hunt
Goals
To provide experience identifying and correcting User Interface (UI) design bloopers.
Instructions
ork individually.
In a paragraph or two of text, describe a UI problem in a software app, website,
or device.
Programming bugs 7here the program doesn do what it is intended to do ¡re not UI problems. Ignore those; focus on UI design flaws.
Focus on one problem. Do not discuss all the UI problems in an app, website,
or device. If 2-3 problems are closely related, it is OK to mention them both,
but if two or more problems are unrelated (i.e., independent), choose one to
write about.
Illustrate the UI problem with screen shots, photos, or sketches.
Describe your proposed solution in a few paragraphs of text.
Illustrate your proposed solution with sketches, edited screen-images, or
illustrations drawn with a drawing app or prototyping tool. Use call-out arrows
or colored boxes to highlight important features in each illustration.
Specifications
nclude your name and the course name.
Start with a brief (1-2 sentence) description of the UI problem.
o Limit your description to ~2-3 pages text (single-spaced) + ~2-3 pages
images (screenshots, sketches, etc.). You can mix the images in with the
text; in fact, it is better to do that than to put all the figures at the end.
o Include detailed written description and illustrations (screenshots, photos,
sketches) of the problem.
Include written descriptions and illustrations (screenshots, photos, sketches) of
your solution.
Number your illustrations (e.g., Fig. 1) and refer to figure numbers in the text
(e.g., see Fig. 1).
Proofread your work before submitting it. Sloppy reports thrown together
