Write a proposal of your own: to address race and racism in
schooling; to address the effects of poverty on schooling,
particularly via early childhood education; to address genderbased disparities in schooling; to improve educational opportunity
for Aboriginal students. Maximum 4 pages. Your proposal must
state concrete interventions, be realistic for the level of
governance of the persona you take on, and be cognizant of
various constraints (funding, political support) on whatever you
propose.
How to write a policy paper, if as a policy maker:
1. Issue statement (bring the signi cant issue, what is the
problem, actors and impact of problem)
2. Decision Context (giving readers background, such as how
was it made,) (description: history, importance of the problem)
3. Decision considerations, (different impact, support, gaps,
learning from past policy interventions, etc.) (discussion of a
range of policy options, such as legality, costs, people?:
comparison and constraints) (the thing which proposal should
do) (could use references)
