Solar System Research Project
General Guidelines
Your topic for this research project will deal with some solar system object. The project will be a
research paper. Your paper must be typed. Be sure to double space. Please do not justify your margins in that
it is difficult to read papers done in this manner. Your margins are to be no wider than 1/n any edge of a
typed page and your font size should be no larger than 14. The minimum total length of your paper is 10 pages.
This includes any diagrams, pictures, charts, etc. As far as content is concerned, the text of your paper should
be between 5 or 6 single spaced pages in length. In addition, your paper must include a cover page showing:
title, your name, class, my name, and date. The cover page does not count in the total length of your paper.
Formal research paper procedures are to be followed. These include an original title and an abstract. You may
create a formal outline or title each topic division within the paper. At least 10 sources must be used and listed
on a Works Cited page. All sources must be used in the report. These sources can be from books, scientific
journals, scientific magazines, newspaper articles, and the internet. Documentation of sources within the paper
will follow proper MLA guidelines. Also, your Works Cited page does not count in the total length of your
paper.
The grading criteria are as follows:
