Exercise 3: sketching luminaire
You have designed a dance club and you found luminaires for that space. The owner of the club wants
you to design the luminaires that will be used in the club.
Pick one of the existing luminaires from the exercise and redesign it. Sketches should be A4 sized,
nothing larger or smaller.
For each labeled light source, indicate its function (general, task, ambient, decorative).
Scan your sketch and identification and submit on blackboard. We, share them in class.
Naming convention: Ex_3_last name, first name
What are your observations? How was the light used in the original exercise? How have you improved
it? You can change the appearance. The openings of the luminaire or the lamp used.
Goal: Students are to begin to apply course content in a familiar setting, and to observe how light is
being used. Additionally, students are to analyze if light is truly supporting the function of the space.
