Completing the nursing program and planning this change project has given me a much
broader perspective on my career and the outlook on my career. I have learned so much about
the nursing profession and the different aspects of patient care. I have also gained a better
understanding of the importance of teamwork and collaboration among healthcare
professionals. Currently, I have been able to build my self-confidence at work due to the
experience I have gained from the nursing program. For instance, my contributions during
debriefing and at management meetings at my workplace, have improved. I can confidently
prepare materials for both staff and patient education with ease. Furthermore, the nursing
program has made me appreciate the fact that the nursing profession goes beyond caring for
patients. It includes protection, promotion and optimization of health and abilities, prevention
of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human
response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities and populations. I will
conclude by saying that I am happy I enrolled on this program.

Taking on an evidence-based project has been a great learning experience. I have learned
so much about myself, the evidence-based project implementation process, and the
potential issues that might affect my career in the future. This project and the completion of
my nursing degree have changed the outlook of my future career and the role that I will be
playing in the workplace.
One of the important lessons from this experience is that the nursing career is more
than just the primary nursing process that ranges from assessing to treating patients. As a
nurse, I will also need to act as a change agent. Nurses constantly have to examine factors
that might affect their ability to provide high-quality patient-centered health care. They
ought to determine ways to change these problems to create an environment supporting
better health care practices (Rafferty, 2018). In this case, I identified nurse staffing as an
issue that affected the quality of care and developed a plan to solve this problem.
Additionally, I have learned the importance of teams in the nursing profession. Nurses have
to work together to fulfill a lot of tasks. The implementation of an EBP project, for instance,
requires the collaboration of various stakeholders (Becker-Haimes et al., 2021). I anticipate
that I will have to constantly collaborate with other nurses and interdisciplinary team
members in my future career to fulfill my role effectively. Finally, this experience has
prepared me for my future role as a nurse leader. I have developed communication,
interpersonal, and planning skills that are important for my future nursing career.
