Computer Communication Networks
Fall 2022
Project 1
Programming assignment
We have studied the sliding window concept in networking in the classroom. Selective Repeat is one the
protocols that utilize the sliding window when sending/receiving packets. Assume that the selective repeat
protocol is used on the sender and the receiver.
In this assignment, you will simulate the behavior of the sender side of the communication link to illustrate the
behavior of the Selective repeat protocol. Your code should show the steps taken on the senderàside to
transmit a number of packets to the receiver.
The simulation should let the user of the code determine the window size and the sequence numbers of packets
needed to be sent out.
Please include scenarios where we assume that at least one packet being sent out to the receiver is lost.
Note: you can write the code with any programming language you prefer.
What to deliver?
1- Your code
2- A report (word or Pdf) that includes:
a. Cover page (course number and name, your name, etc.)
b. A one paragraph introduction about this project
c. Snap shots of at least three runs of your code. Each run must have different values of the sliding
window and the number of packets being sent out (including at least one packet being lost)
