For this assignment, you will be discovering various art periods and art movements. As art history unfolds over time, many of these distinctive eras throughout history reveal the cultural values and ideas that defined the era. As human beings progressed more rapidly, so too did the art movements change and shift quickly. In fact, many of the art movements tend to overlap in other forms of such as music, theater and poetry. Also, another aspect that you will discover is that most art movements build on the previous movement while also rejecting certain aesthetics of the previous movement simultaneously. 

When encountering a work of art for the first time, it is often helpful to learn which period/movement it belongs to because with this information, you will discover the time period, place, visual culture, aesthetics and ideology that surrounds the work of art. You may even begin to develop preferences for specific art movements over your art education that will allow you to appreciate artworks more fully.

Click on at least 10 periods/movements that interest you and write a short synopsis in your own words of all TEN the period/movement that you selected.
