For this account you will read first person accounts of the Mexica, written by a Spanish conquistador and a Spanish friar respectively. Please note that these authors are writing from a perspective where they believe Spanish culture/religion, etc. is superior to that of the Mexica.
Bernal Diaz de Castillo was a soldier in Hernan Cortes’ army that took control of the Mexica’s capital city, Tenochtitlan. At the end of his life, Diaz de Castillo wrote a memoir about his experiences as a soldier.

Diego Duran came from Spain to Mexico at an early age. He trained to be a Dominican friar and as a result of his interactions with indigenous Mexica people, he wrote a book called The History of the Indies of New Spain(1581 CE).
