Question 1
Write a 250- to 300-word response to the following:
hat is the difference between a normal distribution and a skewed distribution?
What causes a skew and how might a researcher deal with skewed data?
Under what conditions would it be acceptable to allow skewed variables in a research study?
Include your own experience as well as 2 citations that align with or contradict your comments as
sourced from peer-reviewed academic journals, industry publications, books, and/or other sources.
Cite your sources according to APA guidelines. If you found information that contradicts your
experience, explain why you agree or disagree with the information.
Question 2
Write a 250- to 300-word response to the following:
ow will you use measures of central tendency in your dissertation research or professional
practice? Cite specific examples of how you expect to apply this weekàtopics.
Include your own experience as well as 2 citations that align with or contradict your comments as

Cite your sources using APA formatting. If you found information that contradicts your experience,
explain why you agree or disagree with the information.
Part 2 Student Response
Student response 1: Review the classmates’ posts and respond to at least one in a
minimum of 150 words. Explain why you agree or disagree. Then, share an example from
your professional experience to support your assertions.
Statistically, normal distribution can be described as a graphical display of collected data where
the greatest peak of data is centered, and the decreasing amounts of data within equal
distribution, are approaching horizontal plateau. Skewed distribution is distribution of collected
data that is clumped up on one side or the other of the peak and the other side trailers off.
In a normal distribution, the mean and the median are the same number while the mean and
median in a skewed distribution become different numbers: A left-skewed, negative
distribution will have the mean to the left of the median and a right-skewed, positive
distribution will have the mean to the right of the median.
According to Lambdageeks (2022), in order to determine if the conditions would be acceptable
to allow the skewed variables in research studies would depend on if the normal distribution
skew is acceptable or not and the answer of the acceptable skewness is in normal distribution
because in normal distribution the skewness is zero and the distribution in which skewness is
near to zero is more acceptable. So after the testing for skewness if the skewness is nearer to
zero then the skewness is acceptable depending on the requirement and range for the client.
The information can be very confusing. It is necessary to understand the content to determine
the distribution.
