Hello Betsy,
Thanks a lot for the detailed article about PCOS. I know that PCOS is caused by hormonal
imbalances that make it hard for a woman to have her period on time. There may be a link to genes,
but being overweight or having insulin resistance is more likely to cause the disease (Deswal et
al., 2020). Follicular phase imbalance in PCOS is caused by the pituitary gland’s excessive
secretion of LH. Anovulation, irregular menstrual cycles (amenorrhea or oligomenorrhea), and
infertility may arise from an imbalance between luteinizing and follicle-stimulating hormones.
Deswal et al. (2020) state that a medication that improves insulin sensitivity, such as metformin,
may be useful in treating PCOS and restoring ovulation. Treatment for PCOS often involves
adjusting one’s diet and way of life. The risk of endometrial cancer goes up even more when extra
androgen hormones are turned into estrogen by adipose tissue. Endometrial protection and
estrogen balance are achieved with the help of progesterone.

syndrome: a brief systematic review. Journal of Human Reproductive Sciences, 13(4), 261.
Hello Helena,
Thanks a lot for your helpful article on Trichomonas vaginosis (TV). At my place of
employment, this is the most common STD patients come with. Patients with sexually transmitted
diseases should be educated about safe sexual practices and receive medical treatment for their
condition. I’ve seen folks who’ve visited the hospital many times for the same illness. It’s possible
that while some individuals with TV don’t have symptoms, others won’t be checked out even if
they’re sick. In addition to increasing the risk of HIV infection, I believe that TV viewing also
increases the risk of other sexually transmitted co-infections by causing vaginal irritation and

epithelial damage (Mercer & Johnson, 2018). So, as soon as a positive diagnosis is made, therapy
should start immediately and, whenever possible, include all sexual partners (Mercer & Johnson,
2018). People with trichomoniasis should have their sexual partners get syphilis treatment as soon
as possible because it is safe and effective.

and host cell immune responses. Trends in parasitology, 34(8), 683-693.
