PCC John Cages & Carolee Schneemanns Art Research Paper
Description
For part of your final exam, you will write a 4-page research paper (plus one page of citations) on the art of two contemporary artists living and working since 1960. They do not have to be born after 1960, but rather, the recognized impact of their art should be at least after 1960 to the present. You will be comparing their working methodologies and using your built knowledge to describe, analyze, interpret, and research examples of their artwork to do so.
Continue to expand upon the research of the two artists that you introduced in Journal 5 that you believed had some crossover in interests. Further define and make an argument for this intersection, but also explain how they are different. Use references to back up your claims in the form of books, catalogs, articles, periodicals, etc. While Wikipedia is a good starting point, you will want a broader array of sources, at least eight (4 for each artist).

? From my point of view, a lot of his work involves with the chance operation.
His work doesn only care about the final pieces. But also about the process
of making them.
Carolee Schneemann
? Her pieces are radical. She is part of the feminist. Back in the day, a lot of
female artists got to hide their talents under menàshadows. She and Cindy
are starting to host meetings where female artists can share their
experiences. They later start to exhibit women artists!rtwork. Letting the art
world not only be dominated by men but letting them know that women have
the same art talents, even better ones because men can sometimes be
limited by their accomplishments.
Carolee was inspired by Jone Cage’s that workpieces could not only be limited to
certain forms but be imaginative. Compared to John Cage, Carolee is more into her
work because she is part of the art, like in her work, Up to and Including Her Limits. She
used certain devices to enable herself to hang on the ceiling, away from the floor, and
draw on the canvas using her body as a brush. But like I mentioned before, because
she was inspired by him, they shared some commons, in my opinion. In the 1950s, the
format of artwork is limited to canvas. We like to only focus on the piece that shows to
us and kind of ignore the process and the hard work of the artists. John Cage took
notice of this and created this inspiring work, 4ó® This has influenced not just the
artist but also the viewers. People started to realize that art could be more than just a
simple view. It can bring more feelings to the people who are watching it. They both
bring performance into their artwork so that their audience can view how the work is
been done. And this is very unusual, even for todayàartwork. I personally really like
Caroleeàwork. Her work is very creative in her time. Even though she is inspired by
John Cage. But the way they perform is still different. I can feel her passion from her
just looking at the picture. But it is said to see that she doesn have the same level of
famous compare to John Cage. And it is still true today that we can imidiately think of
one famous female artist, but we can for men.
