OXON Feminization of Poverty Annotated Bibliography
Description
For this assignment, you will take some initial steps toward a CP topic and start an Annotated Bibliography.
1. Read the AGWR, ch. 9, pp. 200-219 on “contexts” and research for the CP as well as the Annotated Bibliography. Very important! AGWR assignments are in the Perusall app on the left menu. Highlight, write notes, and share comments with your group members using Peruall’s tools!
2. Read again the CP Prompt.
3. Brainstorm some topic ideas you might be interested in researching and writing about. The best are those that have a personal connection to you. A topic you feel connected to will sustain your interest (and probably make your essay-readers interested as well!)
4. Search in Google about your topic. Try different search terms to explore aspects of your topic. See if you can find not only .com websites but .org and .gov as well. Compile a list of articles you find. Figure out a system that works for you to save links and note bibliographic information. Find and read at least 3 good web-based sources. (Later you’ll find library researched sources, but internet searching is okay for now.)
5. Add these sources to a new document you create called an Annotated Bibliography (AB). This is a required course document you will keep adding to and using all quarter to keep track of and analyze your research in order to use those sources well in your essays!
6. Use this prompt to create the AB. An alternative way to write the summaries for your sources is answering the questions under “Evaluate Your Sources” in the AGWR, p. 217.
