This is an opportunity to share and assert your plan for happiness. The Lifeline Display allows the students to visually represent their future goals on a continuum over time. You will complete a brief presentation covering the information in your lifeline display.

Display/Presentation Content: Cover the following in your display/presentation:

  1. Discuss your definition of leisure. Cover significant sources from your research that have contributed to your thinking.
  2. Briefly cover the assessment and self-discovery completed this semester. You may want to include your strongest values, discovery event experiences, etc.  How have aspects of this course validated the importance of leisure in your life, now and in the future?
  3. Cover your life goals in three stages over at least the next 15 years.
  • Career choices and work/leisure relationship. Why have you decided on this career? How will this career change/develop over time?
  • Discuss your evolving lifestyle goals. Where do you see yourself living? How will your family be structured?
  • Leisure goals. How do your leisure goals relate to your work and lifestyle choices? How will your leisure goals change over time?

Creating Your Digital Display 

You will create a visual display of your goals, as a way of presenting information in a concise and visual manner. You will present your information so that your audience can read it and understand it relatively quickly through a combination of text, graphics and pictures. Preparing a presentation takes as much time and effort as a paper; do not underestimate the amount of time that you will need. 

General Presentation Guidelines

  • Displays must have a title. Make your title as specific as possible.
  • Text should be balanced by the visuals – the presentation is not just a collection of nice pictures.
  • Some sections can be presented as phrases or outlines, as long as the ideas are completely clear to the viewer. You may not need to use complete sentences throughout your display/presentation.
  • You may use a PowerPoint presentation or any other digital format that can be presented in class.  

Illustrations/Graphic Elements

The graphics must have a clear connection to the point you are making.

  • You are encouraged to incorporate creative artwork to present your goals and their interrelationships across your goal categories. This might include drawings, photos, graphs, digital images, charts, maps or 3-dimensional objects.
  • Captions for images are helpful.

Summary: Complete a summary of what you are going to present at the beginning of your presentation. This is a concise, informative statement of the main points and could be displayed in an outline format.
