Assignment #6: Guidance Document for Assignment, Research Proposal Part 3
Write the Participants and Instruments sections of a research report. This should relate
to the research hypotheses (or research questions) you used for Assignment 4. This
submission will be no more than 3 pages in length. The Participants section should
delineate all of the characteristics of the sample that will be included in your study.
Provide an indication of your sampling methodology. Indicate the demographic variables
that you will report in this section. A detailed description of the instruments you plan on
using needs to be included. A different subsection should be provided by instrument.
Also, the reliability and validity of each instrument should be included if possible.

Describe the characteristics of the sample. What are the inclusion criteria? What are
the exclusion criteria? What will the demographics of this sample look like (e.g.,
gender, race, years in school, age, etc).
Sampling Methodology
How will you recruit the participants? Based on convenience 4hey just happen to be
where you are recruiting? Where will they be located? Will you select participants
based on a certain characteristic of the participant (e.g., age or pretested performance
on a screening instrument), or a location of the participant, or a certain time period?
Instruments
1. Name of instrument. Now describe the instrument. If it was used in a published
article then cite the article next to the description of the instrument. What does
the instrument measure? What do the items on the instrument look like?
Provide an example item. Any reliability or validity information provided in the
literature for this instrument? How will a number be created using this
instrument?
2. Name of the next instrument. Same narrative as indicated above.
