You do not have to use the Jupiter Notebooks anymore.
The assignment has two tasks.
1) Implement the AES Block Cipher
The task is to implement the AES block cipher that was explained in the lecture. Implement only
the version that uses a key of size 128 bits. You are not allowed to use any libraries from the
Internet. You can use any programming language you want. You are required to implement every
detail of the cipher, which includes the key expansion algorithm and every step in the encryption
process. You do not have to implement the decryption algorithm. You can use libraries to
implement the internal mathematical operations within AES (such as matrix multiplication), but
you cannot use a library that implements the entire cipher.
Your code should have a very simple GUI that allows us to input any plaintext (this is the input to
your code) and view the corresponding ciphertext (this is the output).
Deliverable: A code that is ready to run with a readme file explaining how to run it.

Implement the ECB and CBC Modes of Encryption
Using the AES cipher that you implemented in Task 1, implement the ECB and CBC modes of
encryption. For CBC, you can use any IV you choose. Again, no ready-made libraries are to be
used, and you may use any programming language you like. For padding, you should use the
PKCS#7 standard (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Padding_(cryptography)). Note that padding is
needed in case you want to encrypt a number of bits that is not a multiple of 128. You can use a
ready-made library only for PKCS#7.
In this task, your code will accept any number of bits as input, divide this input into blocks of 128
bits, add padding if necessary before encryption, and produce blocks of 128 bits as ciphertext.
Again, we need a simple GUI where we can copy/paste the input and view the corresponding
encrypted blocks.
Deliverable: A code that is ready to run with a readme file explaining how to run it.
