This assignment consists of questions on IPv6 and Wireless Networks.
Question 1: IPv6 (short snappers)
A. What is the original (unabbreviated) form of the following IPv6 addresses:
0::0
0:AA::0
0:1234::3
123::1:2
B. Identify the type (such as provider-based unicast address, loopback reserved address, etc.)
of each of the following IPv6 addresses:
0::0
0::FFFF:0:0
582F:1234::2222
4821::14:22
C. An IPv6 packet consists of the base header and a TCP segment. The length of the payload is
320 bytes. The packet carries HTTP data. The flow label is 2342. The destination and source
addresses are 582F:1234::2222 and 4821::14:22, respectively. The hop limit is set to 64. Draw
the base header and enter a value for each field in HEX in the base header. The source and
destination IPv6 addresses must be written in the expanded form (un-abbreviated).
D. Write the mapped IPv6 address format of the IPv4 address 129.6.12.34 in hexadecimal colon
notation.
E. Write the IPv6 loopback address in hexadecimal colon notation.
Question 2: Suppose that a CDMA system has four orthogonal codes as follows:
v1 = (1, 1, 1, 1)
v2 = (1, -1, 1, -1)
v3 = (1, 1, -1, -1)
v4 = (1, -1, -1, 1)
Sender1 and receiver1 data is encoded with v1, sender2 and receiver2 with v2, and so on.
Suppose that the following data signals are to be transmitted simultaneously:

Show by means of a diagram the encoding of the individual data signals, the generation of the
composite signal, and how each receiver interprets the correct signal.
Question 3: In the lectures, we discussed two major wireless technologies, namely, WiFi (IEEE
802.11 Wireless LANs) and Cellular. However, there are several other popular wireless
technologies such as:
a) Bluetooth
b) Zigbee
c) RFID
d) Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWA)
e) Software Defined Radio (SDR)
Your task is to select ONE of the above technologies and write a summary report. Your report
should contain (but not limited to) the following topics:
a) Overview the selected wireless technology
b) Architecture and Operation
c) Application examples
Length of the report: 500 words (approximately 1 page)
Figures and citations must be on separate pages and not included in the word count.
Late Penalty: The assignment is due on Monday, December 12th, 11.59 PM. A grace period of up
to 5 hours (4.59 AM on Tuesday) is allowed. After that, there will be a penalty of 10% per day of
your mark received. Late submissions past 5 days will not be accepted.
