Question Description
I’m working on a writing question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
The US Government is made up of 3 branches: the legislative branch makes the laws; the executive branch enforces the law, and the judicial branch interprets the law. Both the legislative and executive branches have elected representatives, although members of SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States) are appointed. Since SCOTUS has the power to interpret the Constitution, the judicial branch has the power to overturn laws passed by members of Congress (Members of Congress are elected by and represent the people), so it brings the question of: America is a republic, should members of SCOTUS be elected?
