Project Guidelines
1 The objectives of the project
Prepare the students to the real-world challenges by training them to conduct their own
research in one of the fields that covered in the program. The research project aims to
develop and improve students’ critical thinking and analysis in the field of energy
economics.
2 Description
On successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
repare a research project and formulate research questions and to plan and carry
out advanced tasks within specified time frames.

emonstrate shift in understanding, where the research project trains students to
think as energy economists not as economic students.

4 Writing guidelines
4.1 Number of words
? Submit a dissertation of maximum 12000 words excluding tables, figures, and
appendixes.
? The dissertation must contain the parts described in Point 5 below.

4.2 Title, Headings, Sections and Numbering
he project title must not exceed 15 words.

? First level numbering: 1, 2, ,tc used for chapters.
? Second level numbering: 1.1, 1.2, tc used for sections in the chapters.
? Third level numbering: 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 2.2.1,tc, used in subsections in the
chapters.
4.3 Fond Size
se fond Times New Roman and font size 14 for the text, and font size 12 in
the tables.
First level Heading should be in Times New Roman and font
size 16 bold.
Second level Heading should be in Times New Roman and font size ±4 bold.
Third level Heading should be in Times New Roman and font size 14
italic.
4.4 Margins
se 2cm for the top, bottom and right margins.
se 4cm for the left margin only.
4.5 Line Spacing
se 1.5 line spacing, the general text.
se single line spacing in the tables and in table and figures titles.
4.6 Tables and Figures numbering
able and figures should be numbers subsequently in the whole project main
text or could be numbered subsequently in each chapter separately.
n the latter case the number of the chapter should be written to the left followed
by the number of the table.
rofessional layout of tables is preferred, no vertical lines (optional).
o tables should be extended to more than one page in the project main body,
all long tables should be presented in the appendices.
4.7 Appendices
ppendices should be given large caps English letter names such as, Appendix
A, Appendix B,age 2 of 3
ables and figures should be given serial numbers inside each appendix

4.8 References
se APA citation style and in the references list.

5 Chapters division
The structure of the report may include the following parts:

4. Introduction (it may include objectives, significance of research and

9. Conclusion/recommendations

11.Arabic abstract
The student and the supervisor have to make decisions about how to divide these parts
into the project chapters.
