Literature in the
Diaspora
Unit 14
Introduction
Latin American literature in the diaspora refers to texts
written by Latin Americans or people of recent Latin American
descent who live outside of the region, and whose work
focuses the Latin American or Latinx experience.
This is not a genre nor a movement. However, reading this
literature as a category helps us see the thread of cultures
and the culmination of histories. Just as Latin America as a
region is extremely diverse, so to are the experiences of Latin
Americans living in other continents.
