Hopefully, you are starting to see the importance of performance improvement (PI) and quality models. The importance of PI may be one of the most challenging issues for all areas of healthcare. These improvement models are put into place to assist with providing a foundation to meet the needs for quality care in hospital settings. They are also put into place, so healthcare facilities can be more successful in meeting the demands of patients, employees, and stakeholders.

Apply the DMAIC PI model to a health care problem or need.

Include the following aspects in the assignment:

Identify a healthcare problem/need of importance to you

Summarize the problem and why you think it is important

Search the library database (Google sites are not acceptable) for two to three scholarly, recent (less than three years old) articles about your chosen problem

Create a level two APA heading for each step of the DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve, control)

Using data from your articles, summarize each step as it relates to your chosen problem or need

Include what type of statistical measure(s) you will use from Chapter 5
