I’m working on a writing question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
What is the place of òitique)n our academic development?
Class – Being a practitioner scholar is a good quality to possess. Many students that excel in this area become quality leaders.
One thing many students are not prepared for at this level is criticism however.
I know many Ph. D. candidates that have not received a diploma after 3-5 years of work because they were unable to accept constructive criticism when it came to their research or their writing.
Keep this in mind: Nothing is guaranteed at this level of scholarship.
All students will have a committee that will help learners develop sound research. Sometimes this help will come in the form of criticism!
At the end of the day, we must accept perspectives of a critical eye and make it work within the scope of our efforts. If we do not, the work runs the risk of not reaching the level of scholarship necessary to receive approval.
In what ways are we open to approval, as well as criticism? In what ways can we learn from both?
