You will research an extinct organism. You will present essential information about your organism
including the causes of extinction. Each student will research a different rock/fossil.
Post your selection on the Discussion Board. Check to make sure that your first choice was not taken
already.
If the organism you wish to choose has been claimed already, find another.

Topic Selection, Delivery and Attendance (10 points)
A Organism is not covered by another student. Post on Discussion Board so all can see. If your organism is
taken, choose a different one. (Pass/Fail)
B RECORDED Presentation of PPT by the due date and time (-1/hour over)
C Post recorded PPT Presentation on Canvas by due date and time (-1/hour over)
D Your one sentence constructive and specific suggestion for 16 presentations by due date. (10 pts) (This
is a change from the original ttendance’rade.)
Organization and Content: (60 points)
D 7-9 Power Point Slides, including title slide (5 points)
E Title slide includes your topic, your name, date and a clear image of your organism. (5 points)
F Present your topic on Saturday, 12/10. Expect to be ready by 9 a.m. using your Power Point. Prepare to
be able to explain all of your slides#ontents. All unfamiliar/technical terms will be explained or rephrased.
Show that you have researched the information. (20 points)
G Your report logically covers who, what, when and where of this organism. Your report covers the
reasons for the extinction (why this creature went extinct). Often, the circumstances that lead to
extinction are part of a chain reaction. Trace the steps towards these circumstances. (Example: If habitat
change is the reason, present when and how this happened. Explain.) (30 points)
H Presentation is between 3 and 5 minutes. For projects that go longer, (-1/each 30 seconds over.)
