The final essay is due soon! This is an individual project. You are
allowed to discuss topics and ideas with each other (including me) but
the final work and write-up will be on an individual basis.
Here are the broad outlines for the project:
1. Topic: You are free to choose any topic of your interest. Some
examples include stock portfolio construction, trading strategies,
algorithmic trading, momentum strategies, finding arbitrage, exploring
fixed income and fx markets, option market questions, crypto currencies,
fintech topics, COVID analysis…..
You can also consult with me if you want to make decisions about what
to do.
2. Introduction Section: The essay should have an introduction section.
It should clearly specify and explain what you are trying to do and why
you thought this direction is interesting to explore.
3. Data: Collect relevant data. Your project should have a component
that uses actual data to some extent. Most data is available on
Bloomberg. If you are using stock data you can also download it from
sites like Yahoo Finance. If you are in doubt you can always consult me.
4. Technique: The analysis should use relevant technique to proceed
with your investigation. You could use any of the techniques we have
discussed or other techniques outside of our class. Explain your choice
of methods clearly.
5. Conclusions: Draw your conclusions and explain them to the reader
clearly.
Any write-up used for any of your other classes will not be accepted.
