FAU 5 Personality Traits Essay
Description
- There are two parts to this discussion. Make sure you address and clearly label both parts (Part A and Part B) in your initial post.
Topic Part A: Explore Your Personality
Although the Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory tends to be the most popular personality assessment, there still is not a lot of viable research to substantiate it. On the other hand, The Big Five Personality Model has some significant research (see Fleeson & Gallagher, 2009; Judge et al., 2014) to support the idea that there are five basic personality types that are the foundations of all the other variations (as cited in Robbins & Judge, 2019). Below you will find the five personality traits and how these traits affect behavior in life and at work. (Note that this is only a partial list of effects.)
- Download the five traits quiz.
- Rate yourself from 1`for each trait (1 being the lowest on that personality trait, and 5 being the highest).
- Ask a relative or a friend to rate you on each of these 5 traits using the 1`scale.
- Compare and contrast the rating of your personality traits with the rating by the other person.
- Finally, discuss your results and what you learned about yourself from the comparison after reviewing the expert’s comments about how these traits might affect behavior on the job and in life.
The Big Five Traits
- Conscientiousness: Responsible, persistent, reliable
- Emotional stability: “Calm, self-confident, and secure”(Robbins & Judge, 2019, p. 147)
- Extraversion: Outgoing, sociable, and assertive
- Openness to experience: Creative and curious
- Agreeableness: Cooperative and trusting
Part B: The Empowered Learner
Discuss the qualities of empowered learners you read about in the Unit 1 reading. (Make sure to specifically mention at least two or three of the qualities from the reading.)
Unit 1 Reading: View/Print. Which of these qualities do you enjoy, and which are you hoping to enhance over the coming 10 weeks? Did you leave any qualities out that you think should be included?
