Describe the components of theory development (See Chapter 4 in McEwen and Wills).  It is important that you become familiar with these components as you progress through this class. What is the nursing metaparadigm?  Does it fit as a metaparadigm for your particular nursing specialty?  If not, what do you feel are the most important concepts or paradigms for that practice area?  How do they relate to each other?

Register and review the A Physician’s Practical Guide to Culturally Competent Care (Links to an external site.) from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Resources Office of Minority Health. This is a free training course that has been developed for physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners for improved competence in cultural competency. You will need to register as a nurse practitioner and complete the training. The training is approved for 9.0 contact hours for continuing education from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.  Upload your certificate of completion with this discussion.

• Discuss how you can become a culturally competence advance practice nurse provider in your future role. Where do you envision your future practice and how will incorporating cultural competency be different in that setting compared to your past working experience.
