Design Two Story Building Project
Description
In our final project, we are will be redirecting our focus within Revit and utilizing the program as a design tool as opposed to using it strictly to create construction documents; the goal of this assignment is to begin using more of the customization tools within Revit and finalize the project into a presentation format acceptable for studio or design presentation (not for construction submittals which was our focus in the previous building).
Each student will be required to complete a final BIM project of a 2-story building. The program is your choice (residence, office, cafe, restaurant etc…), however, the initial form of the building should be based on a rock that you have found. We will start this project by modeling a simplified faceted version of your found rock (use any rock you can find it does not matter) which will act as the building form for your design; it is a requirement for this assignment that you start the project in this manner and follow the steps in the Project 4 Intro lecture to model your rock in Revit using the In-Place massing tools. Once the building form has been modeled, you will design the interiors by adding the interior walls, bathroom(s), and kitchen with appliances (cabinets, countertops, plumbing fixtures etc…). Additionally, you will have to design/create your own custom staircase (not use the generic staircase in Revit); the staircase design should be entirely your own (you should not copy the one provided in the future stair lecture).
This assignment will require two renderings using a plug-in program called Enscape (https://enscape3d.com/) which is a free program but it does require you to sign-up with your school email before they email you a download license (this can take a day or two so I recommend signing up sooner rather than later and not at the last minute); in the past, some students who are using a Mac have had problems with Enscape as it does not work with some graphic cards found in a mac, In order to complete the rendering, as well as completing your drawings properly, you will have to place materials on all of your objects and surfaces within the model; you can start the design process using Generic Walls/Floors/Roofs and then add materials to the Wall/Floor/Roof as you progress with the design. After modeling the project, we will be working on methods to export your drawings and place them in InDesign to add any finishing touches and make them presentable for a digital presentation format. For this last step, you will have to download InDesign to complete the assignment
