Question:
How the concept of SKOPOS can guide decision-making in the sworn translation of
legal documents.
Methodology:

Findings:
1. In legal translation, the primary concern in this process is usually terminology.
2. In the translation of court names, mphasis-ust be put on their identification,

summonsed to identify the court in which s/he has to appear; hence functional
equivalents are not an option.

Challenges of Contract Translation

What are the challenges of translation, in general, of legal translation and of contract
translation?
Methodology:
The method has been applied in this study is: focus on contract translation as purposedriven (envisaging both the process- and product-oriented perspective on translation).
Findings:
1. The contract as text type It is widely acknowledged that the contract is a
hybrid or blend-form, combining features of vocative and informative texts
alike.
2. In contracts Equivalence of terminology, which is not restricted to one-to-one
relationship, should observe the principle of internal coherence (consistency
throughout the translated text) avoiding multiple designations of the same
concept.
