(Museum Trip)
You can choose any Cultural Center and/or Museum in your surrounding areas. If you have something in mind,
please discuss it with me ahead of time. You can choose a piece of art, sculpture, or cultural event that is discussed
on any of the topics in class.
Two Options:
I understand the limited time some of you may have (work, children…) For this project, you can choose to either go
to a museum/culture center or you can navigate a virtual museum. See the link below for options.
WhatàIncluded in the Paper:
Your piece must convey at least 3 of the themes discussed in class, clearly in your paper. What is the significance
of what the artist was trying to say or represent? How does this affect society or groups of people? Select 1-2
artworks only.
Your paper must include a brief historical background of the selected item. Define the purpose of
objects/figures. Explain any symbols (people, objects, colors, placement can be symbolic and attach them to a
theme.
Please do NOT resubmit papers from prior courses, it will be an automatic zero. It will be a different paper
based on your thoughts and the themes.
Examples of themes are:
Music
Poetry
Art
MLA format
In total the assignment will be 5 pages long
3 full pages of your work
Have at least 4 sources (4th page)
Include images (please do not add them with
your paper (use the 5th page instead)
Folklore, Literature, or Mythology
Sexuality
Race
Gender
You have a lot of options, if you are unsure please
reach out to me.
You must also include the location of the work of art
chosen. (Name of the museum or cultural event)
