A. Literature Review (search) — Information is collected from library/internet
sources (especially journals) on new or innovative ideas related to pavement
engineering. Topics can be local, nationwide, or worldwide in scope. A minimum
of 3 references are needed with at least 2 references from Journal/technical paper
sources. Note that you are not expected to do original research. A review of the
state-of-the-art followed by your assessment of the limitations of the work to date
and future research needs is adequate. Suggestions for possible applications or
discussion of actual applications would also be appropriate.
Guidelines for your paper should be 8 to 15 typed pages including figures, tables,
pictures, and references. The paper should have one and a half (1 `line spacing, Times
New Roman font of 12 points.
The topic for the paper is the ¥view of Drainage Considerations in Pavement Design.otes:
(1) There is no restriction on the topic area (as long as it relates to the subject matter).
If your answer to any of the following questions is ¯4hen you might want to
revise your Proposal: Is the topic manageable? Can it be done in the time
available? Is there sufficient information or data available? Is the subject area so
narrow or )mely3uch that a report will provide more insightful information?
(2) In any case, it will be necessary to submit a well-organized substantiated report
that presents the material in a clear and logical manner. A write-up of superficial
generalities will not be considered acceptable.
