I start: “Eugenics in US: The Hidden History”
Eugenics first appeared in American history at the end of the 19th century, through marriage laws. In 1896, Connecticut made it ilegal for people with epilepsy or “feeble-minded” to get married. In 1903, The “American Breeder’s Association was created to study eugenics. John H Kelloggs (yes, cereals) organized in 1911 the “Race Betterment Foundation”, which hold national conferences on eugencis in 1014, 1915 and 1928. Prominent citizens and scientists across the nation joined the caused, establishing the “Eugenic Record Office”, to track families and their genetic traits, claiming “unfit” many immigrants, minorities and poor. It is estimated that around 70,000 Americans were sterilized in between 1920-1970.
