As you consider each candidate bear in mind the organizational structure, what the roles and responsibilities of Vice President of Marketing and Customer Relations are and what the current roles and responsibilities of the candidates are.
Consider the impact that the choice of a particular candidate might have upon the other managers and the culture of the division.
Your Task
You are a member of a selection team that has been asked to consider 6 candidates who have been shortlisted for the vacant post of Head of Marketing and Customer Relations at Aztec Products and Services ! multi-national company that sells a wide range of financial products and services to companies as well as individuals. The job involves the management of 50 people who are set up in teams of 10 to 12; each team is led by a manager who reported to Jack Larkin. Larkin was in charge of the division until he retired. The main responsibilities of the marketing and customer relations unit are to attract and retain customers and to encourage those customers to buy the full range of products and services provided by Aztec.
The Context
The Chief Executive Officer, Fred Davies, who gave your team the task, has made it clear that he would like to see more diversity in the management team as long as it is not at the expense of performance and productivity. In his words: `want the management team to look less like an old white boyànetwork but only if it doesn undermine profitability In addition, Fred made it clear that he like the selection team to consider the leadership potential of each candidate and said that heàlooking for evidence that the person is capable of achieving high productivity from the team that he or she leads. Rm looking for someone who can grow the business; someone who is enterprising and innovative and someone with a proven track record. The person, chosen, has to drive the company forward to take advantage of the digital economy.
Fred wants your team to rank order the candidates 1 to 6, with number 1 being your first choice, number 2 your second choice and so on. He has asked you to provide the reasons why you have ranked candidates in the order that you decide. In other words, he wants your team to state why one person is a better choice than another. Fred has asked that your teamàranking be posted on Canvas Discussions by no later than 4.pm on Thursday. In preparation for the team meeting to agree the ranking, you have all been asked to undertake a thorough analysis of each candidate.
