Please use your own experiences and the knowledge you have gained from this weekænbsp;readings to answer the following topics and questions. You may also use information that you find in the textbook, AIUænbsp;library or the Internet to support your discussion. Make sure you use economic concepts in your main contribution.
- The purpose of this assignment is to understand the terms import and export, and then explain the advantages or disadvantages of buying imports rather than buying domestic products. You could, for instance, write about an imported automobile, stereo, or household appliance that you bought or considered buying. Include all of the following points in your discussion.
If you were a retailer, would you want to sell domestically made goods or imported items? Please explain why you made this choice.
If you wanted to sell a good or service to customers in other countries, what sorts of items do you think you could export?
- In your opinion, should the United States®bsp;Federal Government support companies that want to enter export markets? Please explain.

Hello class. It’s time for us to describe who we would want to sell to overall. Foreign or domestic customers.
Me personally, I want to sell domestically. In order to be successful in anything you do it is best to have
support from home. With my company being new it would easier to advertise to customers close to me. It
would be easier to distribute products as well. With this being a start up business doing everything to save
money is important. You are going to put a lot of money into supplying the company. If I was going to sell to
another country it would depend on what I’m selling . If I was selling food I would probably have a secret
sauce. That would be a way to spread my companies name to new people. The thing about selling products
overseas is the cost for marketing. It’s hard to advertise to people so far away that you know nothing about. At
least not up close and personal. In my opinion it would be a good idea for the government to help companies
enter the export market because it would benefit everyone. Plus, the government has better relations with
foreign countries so it would be a more acceptable market. Advertising would be covered.

Hello Classmates,
For this discussion I would have to choose to do neither one. My reason for this choice is that I had a
job working in retail. When you are selling goods in particular it is really hard to judge who will like
your the ideas you have. You might run the risk of a lot of returns and unhappy people because
delays with shipping issues and getting things on a timely basis. I really picked the nursing field and
deal with customer satisfaction in a different way when it comes to the goods and services that I
offer the patient population that I work for. The reason I can sell to other countries is because I
wouldn know where and what the need may be for them to even want to make an investment into
something like that. To those who have small businesses and are doing well I really do commend
you on your journey. I will support that if small business wanted to sell those things to other
countries, that yes our government should support and help those businesses thrive. The
government could help them with their taxes that they will pay to get things going.
