Art Bibliography & Outline
Description
to begin research to better understand its context and meaning and to learn more about the artist who produced it. For this project, you are required to develop a bibliography of at least 4 credible resources that provide the most substantial and helpful information regarding the historical and cultural significanc of the work and provide other examples of this type of object or the artist’s work. 2 of these must be peer-reviewed publications (university press books and scholarly journal articles). All 4+ sourced must be approved by the professor. As a starting point, the citation information for at least one peer-reviewed source will be provided to you when you receive your assigned object/artwork. To continue your research, I suggest that you look in the bibliography of that initial source (after you read it) and use the library catalog and electronic resources (such as JSTOR and PROQUEST). Your goal is to find the 4+ most credible, substantial, informative sources available to you at the MSU library. This means that you are expected to consult more than the 4 required resources that you will use to infor your project (this process helps you hone your research). (Large projects, such as books and catalogs provide more in-depth, comprehensive analyses, Be sure not to rely on book or exhibition reviews-read the book or exhibition catalog itself.
Afterward, you can consider reviews (although I doubt such texts would be helpful to you for this assignment). Once you have identified the 4 best resources to inform your project, based on the stipulations above you will develop a standard bibliography, in alphabetical order by the last name/s of the author/s and include standard citation information (using MLA or The Chicago Manual of Style). See below for sample bibliographic entries using the Chicago Manual of Style: Imperato, Pascal James. African Mud Cloth: The Bogolanfini Art Tradition of Gneli Traor®bsp;of Mali. Manhasset: Kilima House Publishers, 2006. Rovine, Victoria L. Bogolan: Shaping Culture through Cloth in Contemporary Mali.
In addition to your bibliography, you will develop a presentation outline to help you organize your research material into subthemes/topics that are manageable within the 8-minute time period. You may choose to create a formal outline using Word or develop one that is organized slide-by-slide usingSample formal outline:

a.Introduction to the artwork
b.Introduction to the geographical and cultural context
