Paper Guidelines
The goal of this paper is for you to first investigate how big data can and is used in one sector of urban
planning. You can examine their usage from cities of other developing countries or region and the sector
could be transportation. Using 3-4 case studies, you will then write a 12-14 pages paper (including
figures, references, and with 1.5 spacing between lines) answering the following questions in details:
1) How and what kind of data are collected for your particular urban planning sector?
2) How are these data processed?
3) Are there any theories, concepts, or algorithms you learned in this course that will allow you
to process such data in the future? If so, what are they and are they implemented in other
cities of the world that you have investigated? (if found on case studies use of theories
related to python or pandas)
4) Can such data and processing techniques be collected for cities in the KSA and what
challenges would you face as an urban planner (if any)? (challenges are mostly linked to the
unavailability if a well developed ICT infrastructure.
Be sure to give proper references within your paper using a standard referencing style.
