Annotated Bibliography: Students must complete an annotated
bibliography based on the research you will be doing for your chosen Sustainable
Development Goal. NOTE: Each student has one goal assigned as of January 19th
class. For this course, the annotated bibliography is directed toward your chosen SDG,
and should include a combination of sources but will rely heavily on academic
research journals as well as at least one popular press item. Required – 10 academic,
peer-reviewed sources PLUS 2 popular press articles.
A Research Workshop will be recorded and posted for the class on January 26th. This
workshop will provide the information you need to successfully complete this
assignment. It will also include instructions on how to use this assignment as a tool
(your reference list) for your research paper.
RESEARCH PAPER BASED on your SDG: Based on the SDG
that you have chosen/been assigned, and using the Annotated Bibliography that you
submitted, you will create a cohesive research paper that will provide lucid comments,
and suggestions for action for the SDG that you have chosen. Try to ground your
research in the real world, you may also add popular press articles to ensure that the
immediacy of your suggestions is real and important.
Guideline: Write as much as you feel you need to write to tell me what you believe is
important about the points you are trying to make.
NOTE: This assignment is grounded by the Annotated Bibliography, but you will also
be producing a SWOT analysis for the final project for this assignment – feel free to
use the information from this assignment in that SWOT analysis.
SWOT analysis of your SDG; presentation PPT
required: Each student will present a SWOT analysis on a topic from a list
provided by the instructor (suggested presentation length .o more than 15
minutes). The SWOT is not a typical business SWOT – expand on your ideas and be
creative as you develop a presentations that expresses an analysis of the SDG that
you have been working on all semester.
1) What are the Strengths? 2) What are the Weaknesses? 3) What are the
opportunities that exist? 4) What are the threats? 5) Conclusion hat are your
recommendations regarding sustainability in this situation? I Does this type of
tourism make sense in the global context?
A chart summarizing the SWOT analysis should be included in the
presentation. Each student will submit a SUMMARY (1 page) of their presentation
material on the date of the presentation. YOU are marked on the presentation, and
that mark is based on the summary that you pass in.
You may use any presentation method you deem appropriate to the material you
present (PPT’s would be the most usual) but check with the instructor ahead of time
and submit any additional material prior to the date of your presentation.
