Objectives of the Presentation
?
To inform and educate parents, teachers, and
students on the educational laws and policies.
?
To increase parents’ and educators’ meaningful
contribution towards formulating and
implementing educational policies and laws.
?
To promote legal culture both in Nolensville High
School and in the surrounding community.
Background Information of Nolensville
High School
?
Nolensville High School is a high school in
Nolensville, Tennessee.
?
The school was opened in 2016 and served
students from grades 9p until 2017 when a
junior class was added and a senior class in
the Fall of 2018.
?
Nolensville High School is located in
northeastern Williamson County in the growing
town of Nolensville.
?
Currently, the school serves a total of 1297
students.
Mission and Vision Statements
?
Nolensville High School’s mission is to cultivate a
community of students that promotes innovation,
encourages services, and empowers learners to
realize and improve their strengths.
?
The school vision is that the institution will be
dedicated to excellence, community, and services.
Introduction to U.S. legal system
?
According to USA.gov (2021), the Constitution of
America separate the national government into
three branches to ensure no person or group of
individuals has too much influence.
?
The three branches include the executive, legislative
and Judicial.
?
Each of the three branches has all the power to
change the acts of the other.
State and Federal Legislation
?
National laws apply to every individual in
America.
?
State and laws legislations or laws apply to
individuals who live in those particular states,
territories, municipalities, counties, or cities.
Impacts of U.S. Law on Education
?
The national laws have the most impact on medication in the United States.
?
FindLaw (2018) shows that the national government typically plays a
minimal role in education although its policies and laws significantly affect
the education system.
?
U.S. laws impact education by promoting equal access to quality
education, protecting students’ constitutional rights, and strengthening
parents’ rights and roles in the educational system.
Impacts of state laws on education
?
In the U.S., education is mainly the responsibility
of the State.
?
It is the role of the State in collaboration with the
public and private entities to establish schools.
?
State laws dictate the educational curricula and
establish requirements from enrolment and
graduation.

are increasingly experiencing ethical
dilemmas that force them to make a
choice between right and wrong
