About the Assignment:

Part 1: Find Three Letters of Interpretation

You are to find 3 Letters of Interpretations that relate in some way to one or two of your safety essay topics. Some LOIàmay not directly relate to your topics but could reference it in some way and provide possible information for your upcoming essays. This will also provide practice for searching for LOIàin future OSH classes.

Once you locate your 3 LOIàyou will prepare a short summary (1 paragraph minimum) of each. Make sure to include:

In a Word document (double spaced) you will list the link for each LOI, Title/topic headed on the letter itself and the date of issue. In your summary you can include any questions or facts mentioned as well as the final answer or any justification for the final finding.

Part 2: Find Relative Statistics for Your Safety Topics

Go to the Bureau of Labor Statistics website (www.bls.gov) and gather 3 statistics of relevance to one or both of your safety topics. Some topics may have more information available than others so try to find statistics that are most closely associated with your topic. Make sure to include:

Prepare a listing of your findings and document the exact URL address to the statistics. Under each finding summarize (1-2 paragraphs).
