Music 8 Final Composition Project Guidelines
Write and record an instrumental composition using “modern” popular song form.
Form:
se a modern popular song form with at least three distinct sections: verse, chorus, bridge
or each repetition of the verse:
hords will be the same

elody will vary slightly to accommodate different (but similar) text

elody in the verse tends to be more complex/developmental
or each repetition of the chorus:
hords will be the same

elody will be the same

elody in the chorus tends to be simple/memorable
he bridge only occurs once:
t may take the form of an instrumental interlude (guitar solo, breakdown, etc.)
t may stand as a separate/contrasting section

elody and chords can be free or developmental

Chord Progressions:

Melody:
rite a different melody for each section (see Form above for melody characteristics)

ake a recording of your song using ProTools

Submission:
pload your .wav audio file and a photo of your lead sheet notation to the “Final Composition
Project Dropbox” (Canvas: Finals Week module) by the deadline listed on the syllabus/Canvas.
