Justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion are becoming increasingly important in many sectors,
and for good reason. However, the Canadian psychology community has been a little bit slow in
fully appreciating and recognizing this.
The goal of this task is to increase and spread awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion in
Canadian psychology.
Your topic is: INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY
There are many types of intellectual disabilities. It might mean difficulty communicating,
learning, and retaining information.
For your topic, provide a list of:
A. Identify a minimum of 10 important dates that are relevant to your topic
o Look up important disability-related dates. For example, ïrld Autism
Awareness Day Day)s April 2.
o These dates can either be global awareness dates, or Canadian-specific dates.
o Provide a list of these dates and the event on this date.
B. For each of the important dates you found in Part A, find a matching resource and
briefly describe it.
o For example, find a resource for Autism.
o Types of acceptable resources: Books, social media accounts of credible
organizations/people, podcasts, formal education/training opportunities, etc.
o The resource should either aim to spread awareness, inform others, and/or
educate others.
o ALL resources must be credible and reliable. Do your research and due diligence
to make sure of this. Check who the authors are !re they experts in the field?
o It is strongly preferred if the resource is Canadian.
