Response 1:
Has NIL deals ruined the recruitment process in college sports?
College football is where young stars take their first step at glory as young talent come out of high school and choose the college that they dreamed of playing, at least that’s how it used to be before NIL deals were introduced allowing colleges to offer money to recruitments in order to try to convince them to commit to their respective school. This leads to the schools with the top programs to be able to land the top prospects leading it to be very top heavy in terms of well built teams.
Response 2:
Could college athletics remain profitable without football?
With the increasing concern over concussions and head trauma in football, the sport could lose its popularity in the future. Would college athletics continue to be super profitable off the back of other sports like basketball? College football brings in millions of dollars every year for the schools and conferences, so could college athletics remain profitable and popular if football were to fall off? I think that basketball could hold up college athletics financially, but I don’t think that athletics would remain the financial pillar that it is for universities today.
