Five types of sea turtles including green, ridley, hawksbill, leatherback, and loggerhead sea turtles lay their eggs on North Carolina beaches when they migrate to the nearest beach. The lighting in our beach resort will be sea turtle friendly and will consist of dim, shielded, and long wavelength lights mounted on short poles that are low to the ground. Our design will ensure that the sea turtle hatchlings can find their way easily to the shore and not get attracted by the lights.
