Using the stories in the Penguin book of modern american short story the story by Le Guin’s “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas,” and Chiang’s “The Great Silence,” as possible models, create a unique world, environment, quest, or situation where you explore an idea or concept that is interesting to you. In your story, something small and/or ordinary on the surface might stand for something of great size and significance. Use your imagination and enjoy the process of world building.
