3. three news articles you locate which are dated AFTER the 2022 midterm elections (in other words, after November 8, 2022)

Instruction:

1. Read the New York Times article “Why Election Experts Are So Confused About the 2022 Turnout Mystery.”

2. After reading through the article, look through the list of article aspects below and choose which one is of the most interest to you. This will be the focus of your paper.

3.  Your paper should (please pay attention to the order; this matters):

  • Have an introduction no more than 1/2 of a page. This introduction should explain the focus of your paper with a reference to the actual NY times piece (this means have a direct quote that relates to your specific focus) AND what you have learned in the class. The introduction should also tell the reader why/how this mattered with respect to the 2022 midterm elections.
  • Have the first body paragraph (at least 1/2 of a page) discuss your specific focus with respect to the New York Times piece itself. This means that you can summarize what the New York Times piece discussed and why your specific focus was mentioned in it. There should be another direct quote from the New York Times piece related to your summary here.
  • Explain the connection of your specific focus to course materials, specifically the class text (at least 3/4 page). This means that you should present information from the class text which helps to explain the specific focus you chose. A minimum of two direct quotes from the text are expected.
  • Locate three (3) news articles dated November 8, 2022 or later which present information related to the focus of your paper. These news articles should be from credible news sources (Use a library search engine to help find credible sources). Discuss each of these articles and how they relate to your focus (at last 1/2 page for each). Include one direct quote from each article.
  • Complete your essay with a conclusion that:

Relates the focus to the class text

  1. Relates the focus to the news articles you found
