a. What are you interested in? What problem do you see in your school or

not describe what you hope to find; it should simple be an area of interest.

II. Question
a. Turn your general topic into a question or two. The question or questions will help
guide your research. Examples: What specific needs do ESOL students have in the
general education setting? How can general education teachers meet the needs of
ESOL students, specifically in literacy?

III. Methodology
a. Describe your initial plan for collecting data related to your research questions.
Refer to your textbook for more information about methodology. At this point,
your ideas are only preliminary and may change drastically before your research
takes place. There are two basic methods- qualitative and quantitative.

IV. Sources
a. When it is time to complete your entire project/paper, you will need a minimum of
12 sources for the literature review section. These sources could be journal
articles or book chapters. For this proposal, you will need to ensure that there is
enough written about your topic. This will eliminate potential problems during
your actual study. For this section of the proposal, you should list 6 possible
journal articles or book chapters that may be helpful to you during the literature
review phase of the project. Be sure to include a full citation in APA format, 7th
ed. You should include both articles you reviewed for the course in this section.
This means you only must locate 4 additional articles.

V. Empirical Study
a. For this proposal, locate one empirical study related to your topic. An empirical
study is based on the collection and analysis of data based on direct observation

VI. Preliminary Literature Review
a. For this proposal, you will write a preliminary literature review using the two
articles you reviewed during this course and the one empirical study you reviewed
(listed above). You will add to this review during EDU 5004 Educational
Assessment & Action Research. This initial review should be between four and
eight pages in length and should include an introduction, body, and conclusion.

The introduction should introduce your topic and outline the structure of the
review (chronological, thematic, etc.). The conclusion should summarize the
findings from the article and include any additional questions or points to
consider as you add to this review later in the program. The review should be
written in APA format, 7th ed. Please refer to the videos posted on Canvas for
additional information related to writing literature reviews. The literature review
is not a separate document. It is included in the proposal.

Many STEM ideas can be easily implemented by using robotics. The impact they’ve had
on the world is such that several governments are considering making high school robotics
classes mandatory for all pupils. All STEM teachers should think about incorporating robots into
their lessons, even if doing so isn’t always needed in every discipline. Using a simple math
assignment can be transformed into excitement by integrating robotics to enhance the lesson.
Using coding students must use critical thinking and math concepts for robots to draw shapes or
perform calculations. Teaching concepts in a real-world context helps learners better understand
their relevance. They provide an opportunity for them to put their knowledge to work, which will
help them in the long run. This practical, applied approach to STEM education will set them up
for success and potentially a STEM career.
Having the opportunity to work on robots from the ground up makes for a more engaging
learning experience. Only 59% of eighth graders and 60% of high schoolers are interested in
learning. Unfortunately, only around half of all students are generally excited about attending
class. But beyond that, the opportunity to work robotics that kids see in the movies and on TV is
exciting in and of itself. Most people would probably agree that it’s more interesting to construct
working machines than to study abstract mathematical concepts.
Another reason why robotics is a great tool for teaching STEM is that it encompasses so
many different areas of study. It’s easy to be intimidated by robots since they seem complicated
and their construction necessitates expertise in many areas, from engineering to computer

programming. Even in their simplest forms, robots may provide students with valuable hands-on
experience across a wide range of disciplines. As they assemble the machine’s moving elements,
they’ll be exposed to the principles of mechanical engineering.
The field of robotics has much to offer students of various backgrounds and learning styles.
Seeing robots in action putting technical principles they might not comprehend on paper can help
visual learners. Due to their adaptability, robots may be used in practically every situation. Any
student, regardless of background or expertise, can make an important contribution to solving
problems using robotics. I feel teachers could use robotics as fun and engaging way to complete
a concept that may have been taught or introduced earlier in the week.
Robotics can be used to teach STEM in the classroom because they encourage students£reativity, they can support different learning levels, they can help with lesson engagement and
can be implement across many curriculums. I feel using robotics in my classroom can help my
students build a stronger grasp of STEM concepts.
